Recharged after my holiday!

After two long weekends, today is a hard day for many , I am sure.

As for myself, I have been working everyday since 15th August and yes, over the last holiday weekend too. Yet, I am feeling really good today. Reason is because, I had a good 7 day break during the National Day holidays.

Some of you might have known that I had finally managed to take some time off my hectic schedule to go on a much needed vacay. Did not want anything too fancy and busy so I decided to head out to Hoi An, Vietnam.

I have heard so many wonderful things about the beautiful beaches in Central Vietnam. Not to mention this is a World Heritage Site by Unesco. This ancient town is colourful and rich in its traditions and culture. It really felt like I had stepped into a movie set.

Even with the almost unbearable humid and hot weather, I really did enjoy myself a lot. Taking in the wonderful sights and of course the friendly Vietnamese in Hoi An. There was not much touting or pushy street vendors so I did not have to spend time fending them off.

Everyday, I would apply sunscreen generously on my entire face and body before heading out. For my body, I like to use a spray sunscreen. It is less oily and also lighter on the skin. Here's my favourite perspiration resistant Clarins Sun care Milk lotion Spray SPF 50+

- cleanse face with Cetaphil wash
a gentle cleanser which does not strip off excess moisture especially being out in the sun causes drying of skin to my very very sensitive thin skin.

to boost moisture and to keep skin hydrated throughout the day

There were a few locals doing Pre-wedding shoot there. We managed to catch one in action. Beautiful place to shoot pre-wedding. We might start a new overseas location shoot :)

As Hoi An is a really small town, the would be more bicycles than motorised vehicles. During the evenings, only bicycles are allowed in the Old town.

Our hotel provides free rental of bicycles , so we decided to cycle out to the less touristic beach, An Bang. It is around 5Km away from Hoi An town and I was initially a little anxious as I have not cycled for the last 10 years! And the road conditions was a little bumpy, which added to my worry.
After 15minutes on the bicycle, I was alright.

After being under the sweltering heat, we finally arrived at the beautiful beach. Reminded me of Male, Maldives.

We had to cycle 5km back under the hot sun to get back to the comfort of our hotel room and AIR-Con of course!!!
Most cafes and shops are not airconditioned.

After a very cold bath, we got to the hotel cafe for some tea. The decor reminds me very much of our Raffles Hotel's Seah Street Deli.

I strongly believe that the most important makeup product and the one you should not save money on is the foundation. This is one very important information which I share with every single one of my client. As that would be the first makeup product (if you are not using a makeup primer, that is) which will touch your skin right after your skincare routine.

A very lightweight and 'second skin' oil-free liquid foundation. This water in silicone foundation creates a flawless complexion while reflecting the light to give you a radiant complexion.

I use a Charm foundation brush to apply this liquid foundation for that even and natural coverage. It glides on so easily and blends into your skin without too many strokes of the brush. Upon application, it quickly sets into a matt finish.

Especially in our hot and humid weather, a non-drying and moisturising foundation is very important. When we are indoors, we are usually in an airconditioned room so this will cause skin to be dry. Once outdoors, our T-zone might start to get oily. So this non-drying yet silky matt foundation would address this problem. Natural plant extracts which make this a makeup product with skincare benefits.

Almost all my clients who come to me for Personal makeup class tells me their makeup do not last , some having to touch up every few hours. This is because the foundation has not been set properly with powder. And I usually choose pressed powder over loose powder as this will give you a more natural finish.

Ok before I talk about why this is my number 2, I would like you to take a look at the packaging. It is so gorgeous! I have always loved animal prints for as long as I can remember, way before it was made chic of recent years. So I must say that this classy packaging would sit nicely in your purse and you might just like whipping this out just to get a reaction (of envy, that is) from your girlfriends. :)

Now back to business. To make sure your foundation has been set in properly , this light-weight and micronised powder will make sure your makeup last and last. Gives you a silky finish from the double coating of Silicone and Lecithin. I like to apply powder using Charm Stippling Brush to get flawless yet very natural finish. This brush helps to spread out the powder without giving you that cakey appearance.

Sisley Paris Atrium Event July 2012

The first time I was introduced to luxury skincare & cosmetic brand Sisley Paris, was in Paris!

That was during my early days as a flight attendant and a senior colleague of mine took me out shopping with her. I can still remember vividly how the small yet well-stocked beauty store looked like.

So you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to their atrium event here in Singapore to do makeup styling for their most esteemed and loyal clients last weekend.

I was pleasantly surprised with the extensive range of makeup products Sisley Paris has, and with them I was able to create flawless and natural makeovers for the ladies. As I was able to try out and use all the Sisley makeup products available, I ended up totally falling in love with many of them. Look what's in my bag?

You know for my work as a Makeup Artist, the tools of the trade would be my makeup brushes. I am almost seeing, holding and working with them all day long. I have hundreds and hundreds of brushes, some for personal use, those used in classes and 5 overstuffed pouches/tool belts which I use for work. I always tell people that one can never have too many makeup brushes. A brush can make or break the final effect of what you are trying to create. Take good care of them and they will take good care of you too.

So the next question which I have been asked very often is 'Which Charm Makeup Brush set do you have in your bag when you travel? Any favorites?'
Ok, I do not have just ONE favorite set. As mentioned earlier, one can never have too many makeup brushes (or am I just greedy :p)
I do, however, have a favorite set which follows me when I travel overseas.
