The Scarlet Party Chic look

As seen on Burlesque artist Dita Von Teese
As seen on Scarlett Johansson

Always wanted to look effortlessly sexy, sultry and
classy like Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson or Burleque artist Dita Von Teese?

Here is my take on how to funk up the red lips this holiday.

First, select the correct shade of red for your skintone.

If you are fair skinned, select a red which is
blue-based. A very popular choice would be MAC’s russian red. It is almost an
iconic shade of red for MAC and this matte lipstick stays put after many hours
of wear.
For skin which has a yellow under skin tone, medium skin
tone , asian skin or if you like to use bronzers, blue-based reds do work too,
though I would recommend one with an orangey hue.
For darker skin tone, the perfect shade would be one
which is has some plum or brick tone in it.

Step 1 :
Face

We start by applying a primer with light highlights on
face. Dab foundation on face and blend with your fingertips. Lightly dust loose
powder or pressed powder with a good stippling brush like the Charm Pro Stippling brush
over face and neck.

Step 2 :
Eyes

Using a highlighting brush, apply an off-white to cream
colour shimmer eye shadow , known as the highlighter, from
the crease up towards your eyebrows.
Select a peach shade eye shadow and apply
over your eyelid with an eye shadow brush. Cover the entire lid all the way to
the crease.
Using a gel liner with an eye liner brush,
line your eyes close to your lash line and make a deliberate wing tip at the
end.
Apply at least two coats of mascara or use
faux lashes.

Step 3 :
Cheeks

Apply blusher on the apples of the cheeks.
You want to create a glowing and natural blushing look, but not too much colour
as we want the attention on the lips.

Step 4 :
Lips

Using a nude or red lip pencil ( in the same
shade as the red lipstick you are using), line your lips before applying
lipstick. This is to prevent ‘bleeding’. Apply lipstick using a lip brush in
feathered strokes and blot. Apply a second coat.

Ready to Rock the Party!
-----
The 'Kim K' inspired look

Achieving sexy smokey eye makeup seems like a daunting task
to many. Yet, it is one makeup technique that suits everyone.

Possibly the most popular request this year at my makeup
gigs , is the Kim Kardashian inspired smokey eye look. Here is my favourite
version of smokey eyes , which opens up your eyes with softer shades like the
plum and taupe.

The very Gorgeous Kim Kardashian

Step 1 :
Face

We start by applying primer on face. Then dab foundation on
face and blend with your fingertips. I will skip the area around the eyes first
because sometimes the darker eye shadow pigments will fall off and cause ‘dark
circles’ under the eyes
.

Step 2 :
Eyes

Prepare the eyes with a primer or a cream concealer. The
key to keeping eyeshadow from melting into your eyelid crease as the day goes
by is to keep eyelids oil-free. Dab primer or concealer with your ring finger
all over the eyelids and under eye area.
Sweep a shimmer highlighting eye shadow in an off white
shade all over the eye lid.
Using an eye liner, in this case a purplish plum shade,
line the lids till under the socket bone with the eyeliner and stop at half the
eye from the outer eye. Blend with a sponge tip applicator and make sure you
stay under the socket bone.
Sweep a dark purplish plum powder shadow over your lid
and into your crease with an eye shadow brush, blending the color up and
outward.
Blend with a light brown to peach eye shadow under the socket bone to create
depth to socket area as the middle colour.
Blend with blending brush to remove any harsh lines between the eye shadows.
Line the eyes with gel liner close to the lash line in a
single stroke with a fine tip eyeliner brush. With the remaining liner still on
the brush, line the lower lid and smudge with sponge tip applicator.
Lightly dust face with loose powder.
Apply false lashes to complete the look or apply two to
three coats of mascara.

Step 3 :
Cheeks

Apply a sable or peachy tone blusher on the apples of the
cheeks. Sweep bronzer under the cheekbones
.

Step 4 :
Lips

Line lips with a nude lipliner. Apply a nude and matte
lipstick with lip brush, blot and re-apply.
